Advancing Integrity, Reliability, and Life-Cycle Performance of Floating Offshore Structures and Mooring Systems

05 May 2027
Room 602
Technical Session
Floating offshore facilities are increasingly operating in deeper waters, harsher environmental conditions, and extended service lifecycles. These developments introduce significant engineering challenges associated with structural integrity, mooring reliability, fatigue management, asset monitoring, and operational assurance. This technical session will explore innovative engineering approaches, emerging technologies, and industry applications that improve the safety, reliability, and life-cycle performance of FPSOs, floating production platforms, and associated offshore infrastructure. Topics will include structural and mooring system integrity assessment, fatigue damage prediction, advanced monitoring and machine learning applications, mooring chain requalification, turret-moored FPSO behavior, anchoring and pile design, riser configurations, hurricane-resistant mooring solutions, additively manufactured replacement components, and remotely operated maintenance and intervention technologies. The session will highlight practical industry experiences and technical advancements supporting the qualification, inspection, reassessment, maintenance, and life extension of floating offshore assets, with particular emphasis on improving operational reliability and reducing lifecycle risks in demanding offshore environments.
