From Seafloor to Supply Chain: Where Policy and Technology Go Deep

04 May 2027
Room 310
Technical Session
Before a seabed resource becomes a supply chain, a developer has to answer a short list of hard questions: how much is there, who has the right to recover it, can it be surveyed and operated safely, and can it be protected once it matters to national supply. Government and industry are now working on those answers together, and the answers are what move projects from exploration toward operations. This session brings together policy, legal, security, and engineering work on those questions, from resource mapping and uncrewed survey systems to governance regimes and recovery technology. This aims to highlight some uncertainties that are closing, some that remain, and what they mean for your own project.
